Frequently Asked Questions

What rails makers are asking about LightningRails

How do I Build a Subscription Management SaaS with Lightning Rails?

Lightning Rails provides built-in templates and code generators for subscription management saas, making it easy to get started quickly. Just purchase a license, clone the repo and follow the documentation

What are the benefits of using Lightning Rails for subscription management saas development?

You save time, get a modern UI, enjoy a robust Rails setup and liftime updates. You can also use the slack community to get help and support from other Rails makers.

What do I get for my money?

You will have access to a lifetime access of LightningRails boilerplate available as a one-time-purchase license. You also get access to the public documentation to get started and that explains in details how to implement the different features (authentication, payments, etc), how to use the different components, and how to deploy your app.

Finally, you get access to the private Discord community where ruby on rails makers are building and launching new products.

After purchasing your license you will be given access to the source github repository where you can download the latest version of the boilerplate and get started building your app.

Finally, you will be able to book a 1:1 call with me, to discuss your poject idea and get some advice on how to get started.

Can I get a refund?

Unfortunately and because of the nature of the product we cannot offer refunds. We believe that the value of the boilerplate is in the time saved and the features provided. We are confident that you will find the boilerplate useful and that it will help you build your app faster.

What am I allowed to do with this boilerplate?

You are allowed to use the boilerplate to build as many projects as you want. You can use it for personal projects, for client projects, for your own startup, etc. You can modify the code, add new features, remove features, etc. You can also use the boilerplate to build and sell your own SaaS product.

However, you are not allowed to resell the boilerplate itself. You are not allowed to distribute the boilerplate to others. You are not allowed to use the boilerplate to build a boilerplate or a similar product that you would sell or distribute 🙏

Can I have my LightningRails project on a public repository?

No, you cannot have your project on a public repository. The boilerplate is a paid product and the code is not open source. You can use the boilerplate to build your app and sell your app, but you cannot share the code of the boilerplate itself. If the code is leaked on public repostories you are at risk of having your license revoked.

Does the license include lifetime updates?
Yes! I use this boilerplate for my own projects, so I will regularly update it based on the community's needs. I won't adopt every new Rails version immediately, as that could increase the chance of bugs occurring. However, I will keep it updated with major Rails and gem updates to ensure the boilerplate runs smoothly.

Can I use the boilerplate if I have a newer version of Ruby on Rails?

The boilerplate comes with a license that includes lifetime updates, as I regularly use it for my own projects. Consequently, all gem dependencies and Rails framework versions will be updated on an ongoing basis. In the meantime, you can still use it with newer versions of Rails due to its excellent backward compatibility. For example, you can use the boilerplate with Rails 7.2 even if it's currently at version 7.0—at least until I catch up

Is this a better boilerplate than JumpstartPro?

Choosing between Lightning Rails and Jumpstart Pro depends on your specific needs. If you're an indie hacker or solopreneur who needs to build and validate business ideas quickly without incurring subscription costs, Lightning Rails is a great choice. It offers a stunning front-end from day one, leveraging a huge library of themes and pre-built components with DaisyUI, and includes cutting-edge AI features. Plus, it comes with a lifetime membership, allowing you to buy once and launch as many projects as you want.

On the other hand, if you're an agency or established startup building a single, large-scale application with a dedicated budget, Jumpstart Pro might be more suitable. It provides enterprise-focused features and prioritizes back-end flexibility over out-of-the-box front-end design.
